Emmy Nominations 2012: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
THE GOOD: Despite the fact that our list of “good” seems to get smaller and smaller every year thanks to a voting body that inexplicably continues to place a priority on big names versus talent (See: Uma Thurman’s Outstanding Guest Star Actress in a Drama nod for SMASH), the Academy of Television Arts & Science did get a few things right. Namely, nominations for a handful of much deserving small screen newcomers like HOMELAND’s Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, SHERLOCK’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman and would appear to be the entirety of Britain’s DOWNTON ABBEY (Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Brendan Coyle, Jim Carter, Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt) Equally exciting, recognition for the likes of Don Cheadle (HOUSE OF LIES), Lena Dunham (GIRLS), NEW GIRL’s Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield, Merritt Wever (NURSE JACKIE), Anna Gunn (BREAKING BAD), and Jason Ritter (PARENTHOOD). Gaius Charles Talks the Similarities and Challenges of Portraying Another Driven Football Star on NECESSARY ROUGHNESS
Being in demand for his physical prowess, Gaius Charles has deftly moved between equally gruelling roles both as football stars in the television series FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and most recently in the sports drama NECESSARY ROUGHNESS. In a recent press conference call, Gaius shared his thoughts on the similarities and challenges of portraying the newest Hawks’ football player, Damon Razor. Damon is an ultra-bright and gifted athlete afflicted with an unusual condition called “imposter syndrome,” who doubts his own unique abilities simply because he feels he does not deserve them. A Night To Remember: Partying with the Cast of HAVEN at San Diego Comic Con
It was a special night as fans mingled and partied with the cast, producers and writers of the television series HAVEN at the Sidebar nightclub in San Diego last Thursday night. As a last minute fun surprise, it was announced that HAVEN would be hosting a party and a few lucky fans were invited to join in the festivities.
