A Night of Tears and Laughter with BONES at the Paley Center
No matter how you look at it, BONES is a remarkable show. It deftly blends humor into some of the most tragic (and gory!) storylines to be portrayed on television. It also offers a delicate balance of familial friendship that has enchanted viewers for the past six seasons, and remarkably continues to lure in new viewers each week. For a show entering its seventh season, BONES is showing no signs of slowing down and — as this week’s heart-breaking episode will demonstrate once again – is creatively at the top of its game.
On May 9th, the Paley Center honored BONES and gave fans a chance to celebrate the show with creator/executive producer Hart Hanson, executive producer Stephen Nathan and cast members: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin and T.J. Thyne. After a special screening of the May 12th episode “A Hole in the Heart,” the moderated panel provided some insight into what BONES is planning for its 7th season and the ever-elusive “will-they-or-wont-they” dance of Brennan and Booth. As the lights rose after the screening, there was not a dry-eye in the house. Watching an episode in which a beloved character dies is hard enough in the solitude of one’s own home – but to share in that momentous loss was a collective grieving experience that seemed to affect everyone all that much more. It was also a special gift to the fans who had flown in from around the globe – Biba (Brazil), Claudia (Belgium), Nicole (Canada), Anne (Boston), Diana (Texas), Joanna (Texas) and Jenna (Sacramento) – who were not only able to celebrate the show together, but who could also console each other over the loss of a fan-favorite character.

5 Reasons Why You Might Wish to Reconsider Burning FOX’s Name in Effigy Following Last Night’s Slew of Cancellations
It was fun while it lasted.
While it’s never a happy day when your favorite show gets cancelled (Seriously, this is coming from the TV Addict who is still smarting over the untimely demise of EVERWOOD, JACK & BOBBY, VERONICA MARS, KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL and GROSSE POINT!), both LIE TO ME and HUMAN TARGET ended their runs with 48 and 25 episodes respectively. A number, that while not ideal, is one we have a feeling FIREFLY fans would have done unspeakable things for!
You gotta give Fox credit for thinking different.
Putting aside for a moment the pick-up of THE FINDER — a somewhat less-than-thrilling BONES spin-off that we have a feeling was only given the green-light as a result of Emily Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy and creator Hart Hanson’s stellar track record — Fox will always hold a special place in our heart for being the one network that isn’t afraid of thinking different. And while we’re the first to admit that their gambles don’t always pay off, we continue to applaud them for taking chances on the likes of GLEE, BOB’S BURGERS, TERRA NOVA among others. Particularly in contrast to their Network brethren who far too often seem content with spewing out spin-offs, reboots and re-imaginations of already popular franchises.
Exit Interview: Steve Wright Talks SURVIVOR REDEMPTION ISLAND
While many will argue that the introduction of “Redemption Island” is SURVIVOR’s biggest twist this season, some… okay we like to think that the far bigger surprise has a little something to do with the fact that for the first time in the history of the series, ousted contestants will have to face off against… us! Yes, you’re reading that correctly, theTVaddict.com is honored to have been asked to take part in the traditional one-on-ones with each week’s eliminated contestant, the ninth of which was Steve Wright.
Despite the touchy subject matter, we’d be remiss if we didn’t start off by asking about the controversy surrounding your remarks to Philip. Having shot the show months ago, were you at all concerned with how the sensitive subject that is race might turn out after the show’s masterful editors got a hold of the footage?
Steve Wright: To be honest with you, I just didn’t give it a second though because I know that I took the high road the whole time. I’m confident that I didn’t have a prejudice bone in my body and it would be pretty tough to twist it that much to show that there was something prejudice with me. After the episode aired, I got a ton of responses from NFL players around the league that I played with throughout my 13 years and my brother-in-law… prejudice my ass. Philip’s on crack and I really wasn’t concerned about it. I was more concerned about having him being a looney-tune at night with all the machetes and everything else around there.
Bubble Watch 2011: BETTER Without MR. SUNSHINE?
With the Network UpFronts just around the corner, theTVaddict.com’s Bubble Watch continues with special correspondent Nawfal Faizullah’s look at BETTER WITH YOU and MR. SUNSHINE’s prospects for renewal amidst an embarrassment of Wednesday night comedy riches that include THE MIDDLE, MODERN FAMILY, HAPPY ENDINGS and COUGAR TOWN.
Working in their favour: In terms of quality, both shows had a pretty good first season. What BETTER WITH YOU lacked in originality, it more than made up for with snappy dialogue and a fantastic ensemble. While MR. SUNSHINE may have taken some time to find its comedy legs, it felt far funnier by season’s end. Well, that and we’d be content with the likes of Matthew Perry and Allison Janney reading a phone book for the better part of thirty minutes. Could we be anymore in love with them?
