The FBI seems to be having a hard time grasping how things work in The Big Easy.

The strictly by-the-book ways of new team member, FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) and her years in D.C. make her methods somewhat off-putting for the NCIS: NEW ORLEANS team, as does the approach of her FBI boss, Raymond Isler (guest star Derek Webster).

When Navy Petty Officer Drew Clarkson (guest star Jason Woods) is kidnapped, the NOLA team thinks there may be a link to another case in which a decorated officer was found dead in a sports arena.

Gregorio walks Drew’s parents, Susan (guest star Debbon Ayer) and Hank (guest star Demetrius Grosse) through the phone call from the kidnappers, which seems to originate from Mexico.

Upon hearing the call, Pride (Scott Bakula) and Lasalle (Lucas Black) hypothesize that the kidnappers and murderers could be the same people.

To the consternation of the FBI, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS decides to break protocol to rescue the abducted petty officer.

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS also stars Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Shalita Grant and CCH Pounder. Additional guest stars in tonight’s episode, “Man on Fire,” are Carlos Ayala, Andy Dylan, Carlos Posas, Shannon Nicole and Julio Castillo.

Mario Lopez also guest stars as NOPD Officer Hernandez. “Man on Fire” was written by Zach Strauss and directed by Rob Morrow (star of NUMB3RS and NORTHERN EXPOSURE).

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and Global in Canada.

SPEECHLESS Preview: First Look at ABC’s New Family Comedy

May 17, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

MASON COOK, KYLA KENEDY, JOHN ROSS BOWIE, MINNIE DRIVER, MICAH FOWLER, CEDRIC YARBROUGH

At the heart of SPEECHLESS is the DiMeo family and matriarch Maya, who will do anything for her family, particularly for her special needs son JJ.

The show begins as the family tours a run-down shack that will be their new home. They learn that this move is another in a long list of attempts to create the “perfect” situation for JJ. JJ will be assigned a full time aide, giving him independence and a spot in a mainstream class for the first time. While everyone seems happy about the possibilities of their new town, young Ray thinks that the newest move will be a disappointment, just like all the others.

And it turns out Ray is quickly proven right. Maya is horrified to learn that the “perfect” school has no wheelchair access. JJ doesn’t like his aide or the classroom full of students who want to “celebrate” him.  While everyone is soon ready to bail, Ray is drawn to the school’s astronomy club and the girl-of-his-dreams, Jillian.

SPEECHLESS will air this fall on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC (see ABC’s full fall schedule).

NBC Orders MIDNIGHT, TEXAS to Series; Cancels CROWDED and HEARTBEAT

May 13, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

NBC has ordered MIDNIGHT TEXAS to series, executive produced by Niels Arden Oplev, the director of MR. ROBOT.

The show, based on the book series from Charlaine Harris (TRUE BLOOD), features all manner of strange creatures in a remote Texas town, including vampires, witches, psychics and hit men. “As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.” The cast includes François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Ramos, Peter Mensah, Yul Vazquez and Sean Bridgers.

In addition, the network has cancelled the Carrie Preston and Patrick Warburton comedy CROWDED, which premiered at midseason. And drama HEARTBEAT, starring Melissa George, has also been given the axe.

ABC Orders SPEECHLESS to Series; Renews LAST MAN STANDING

May 13, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

MASON COOK, KYLA KENEDY, JOHN ROSS BOWIE, MINNIE DRIVER, MICAH FOWLER, CEDRIC YARBROUGH

ABC is continuing with their pre-Upfronts news this morning with a series pick-up of SPEECHLESS, starring Minnie Driver, and the renewal of the long-running sitcom LAST MAN STANDING, starring Tim Allen (which will be returning for a sixth season).

SPEECHLESS tells the story of the DiMeo family, “a gang who’s pretty good at dealing with the challenges it faces, and absolutely fantastic at creating new ones. At the heart of the action are Maya, a mom on a mission who will do anything for her family, and JJ, her whip-smart teen son with special needs.  Maya’s a no-holds-barred fighter of injustices both real and imagined.  In her orbit are dry and smarter-than-he-seems husband, Jimmy, her no-nonsense jock daughter, Dylan, and middle child, Ray.  Ray’s the lone adult in the family, the voice of reason, the brains of the operation… if you ask him, that is.” John Ross Bowie, Micah Fowler, Mason Cook, Kyla Kenedy and Cedric Yarbrough co-star.

BATES MOTEL Season 4 Preview: The Only Way It Can End

March 7, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

bates-motel

Norman Bates is missing. When Bates Motel returns for its fourth season, Norma and Dylan are desperately searching for the missing Norman. When we see him, he wakes up in a field and he’s shouting at a vision of his mother that only he can see.

When his family gets wind of his whereabouts, he’s been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. As Norma rushes to her son’s side, Dylan is heading to Portland to await the outcome of Emma’s lung transplant.

When Norma finally gets in to see the hospital’s psychiatric doctor, she admits that Norman has been having blackouts but insists there is nothing wrong with him. The doctor disagrees and tells Norma her behavior has been negligent. Frustrated, Norma is ordered to leave while the hospital takes over Norman’s care. She immediately seeks out Alec (who, believe me, has his own problems), but he can’t really help her. Instead, she tries to secure Norman a place in a beautiful psychiatric home (instead of the horrible county hospital).

In Portland, Emma’s mother Audrey shows up at the hospital. While Dylan seems interested in getting to know her, Emma’s father orders her away. She leaves the hospital, but checks in to the Bates Motel, bringing her in contact with the Bates family.

Here’s the most important thing you need to know about this new season: Norman Bates’ mental “episodes” are increasing. They’re getting worse and they’re getting stranger and we’re getting progressively closer to the Norman from the Hitchcock film.

Don’t miss the season premiere of BATES MOTEL tonight (March 7) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
