Dispatches From the Couch: SURVIVOR, AGENTS OF SHIELD, THE BLACKLIST & More!

September 26, 2013 By Richard M. Simms Leave a Comment

Ah, the fall season is finally underway… and that means all kinds of stuff for us to ruminate on! Ready to discuss some of the latest TV offerings? Then let’s dive right in, shall we?

Bad boys are always popular on reality shows. But I’ll tell you what: A little bit of SURVIVOR’s Colton goes a long, long way. He’s not the kind of guy you love to hate… there’s only room for one emotion on this street, and it ain’t love. Here’s hoping his whining and manipulating get him booted sooner rather than later, or I might just have to bail out of what has otherwise proven to be a fantastic season. The fact that players can swap out for loved ones has, in many ways, turned this into an entirely new game. And if you want proof that SURVIVOR is as close to real as you can get — and not manipulated by producers as heavily as other offerings — look no further than the outcome of last night’s battle on Redemption Island. You can be sure that the producers definitely did not want fan fave Rupert to be sent packing! [Read more…]

90210MG! Jason Priestley and Luke Perry Reunite at FanExpo 2013 [The Full Panel]

August 26, 2013 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, 90210 reunion

Having credited the original BEVERLY HILLS 90210 with jump starting our addiction to television, it should come as no surprise that this past Friday afternoon found your very own TV Addict fan-girlingguying at FanExpo Canada for Jason Priestley and Luke Perry’s reunion. That said, what might come as surprise — at least it did to us — was how honest, funny and friendly the artists formerly known as Brandon Walsh and Dylan McKay were when it came to such controversial topics like true feelings towards co-star Shannen Doherty, their actual level of interest with regards to a big-screen BEVERLY HILLS 90210 reunion and of course Ian Ziering’s recent success with Syfy’s SHARKNADO. See for yourself, after the jump. [Read more…]

Over the past two weeks, theTVaddict.com’s Senior West Coast Correspondent extraordinaire Tiffany Vogt has the unenviable task* of covering the summer portion of the bi-annual 2013 Television Critics Association Press Tour. It was a monumental year for HAVEN as it made its first panel appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.  HAVEN not only hosted a fan party in honor of the occasion, they held their 1st panel at SDCC, then rushed over for a 2nd panel at The Nerd Machine’s Nerd HQ — and managed to squish in time for fan scavenger hunt along the way.  Everywhere you turned for the first couple of days at SDCC there was a HAVEN event to be had.  Fans of the show and newcomers were delighted with the large presence at San Diego Comic-Con and made sure that each appearance was a sold-out, jam-packed, and bursting at the seams event. ORPHAN BLACK Redux: Clones and Siblings and Twins, Oh My!

June 1, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Whatever we were expecting about a show that features clones, we certainly were not expecting ORPHAN BLACK to whip out the twins card too. When Sarah’s (Tatiana Maslany) birth mother finally makes an appearance, it is not the fact that she was a mere surrogate that gets our attention, but rather the critical piece of information that she carried two babies to birth – she had twins. That’s right, that special bond between Helena and Sarah was more than just the clone DNA drawing them together, it was their twin-bond. The clever birth mother sought to protect the babies she carried, so she gave one to the state and one to the church. It probably seemed like a reasonable and safe option at the time. But years later, after seeing how Helena fared growing up under a radical regime through the church, that decision seems a bit dubious. Even Helena would not wish such an upbringing on a child as she literally fought tooth and nail to ensure that little Kira (Skyler Wexler) would not suffer the same fate under the harsh, maniacal tutelage of Thomas (Daniel Kash). ORPHAN BLACK Redux: Clone Club Implodes

May 24, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In last week’s episode “Entangled Bank” we saw Sarah, Cosima and Allison (all played by Tatiana Maslany) spiraling out in their lives.  Cosima took a giant leap and seduced her monitor Delphine (Evelyne Brouchu), which only gave Delphine the perfect opportunity to snoop around and get a good look at Cosima’s notes on all the clones.  Then Allison revealed that her and her husband Donnie (Kristian Bruun) were getting a divorce, which led to drunken binging and sleeping with her suspected monitor’s husband.  And Sarah, trying to hold the clone club together, decided to enlist Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) into the club and see what information she could provide.  Unfortunately, little Kira (Skyler Wexler) bore the brunt of all the clones’ secrets when she happily took Helena’s hand for a walk, which ended tragically.
