When we last saw Lucifer on SUPERNATURAL he had been (presumably) banished to the bottom of the ocean by Rowena, who wasn’t happy being his prisoner. She sent him away after causing his vessel to start deteriorating rapidly.

But you can’t keep the devil down for long. In an early December episode Lucifer will be returning and he’s still in the vessel of Vince Vicente. He also comes to the realization that as a rock star he can convince his fans to do whatever he wants. Bored with ideas of the apocalypse, Lucifer instead decides to abuse his rock star power. So he organizes a secret VIP concert in order to kill his fans.

Naturally, the Winchester brothers aren’t happy about this. So Sam and Dean team up with Castiel to venture into the music world and stop him.

SUPERNATURAL: Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles Look to the End of the Show….A Very Long Time From Now

November 17, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

SUPERNATURAL has become the longest-running scifi series in the U.S. at this point. Now in its twelfth year, the show has surpassed 250 episodes in terms of filming.

But how much longer can it go on? Quite a bit longer if stars Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) have anything to say about it (and it looks like they do because CW President Mark Pedowitz has repeatedly said that the show will continue as long as Ackles and Padalecki want to keep doing it).

During a recent discussion with the SUPERNATURAL stars in Vancouver, Ackles and Padalecki talked about looking ahead to episode 300 and why even that might not be the end for the show.

In fact, fans should think about 300 episodes as “the next milestone,” Ackles explained. “We kind of have our eyes set on getting there. And then we’ll see….I mean, [Padalecki] keeps talking about another number that I don’t want to mention.”

“It used to be just one step at a time,” Padalecki explained. “Now we’re like just one, one and a half season stretch at a time. 45 more episodes at a time. Eric Kripke, way back in the day — I think in season 3 or 4 — he mentioned like 5 seasons or something. And everybody’s like ‘you’re going to end it after 5 seasons?’ And he was like ‘no, just taken out of context. I just think if we can at least get that far’. I think he legitimately was like ‘I’m just trying to like keep on pushing the ball so they keep on saying yes’. And there are a few numbers…I don’t think it’s going to be a number. I think we’ll all know it when we know it. It’s going to be hard to swallow.”

“I think that as long as they’re still staying true to the show and the characters are still being written in a way that we still get inspired to play them, then I don’t know that there is a number necessarily,” Ackles said.

“I think the number should be 666,” Misha Collins (Castiel) piped up.

“That’s in like 18 years!,” Padalecki pointed out.

“Alright, GUNSMOKE, you’re on,” Ackles challenged.

SUPERNATURAL: Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles on the Thule’s Return, the British Men of Letters and Sam’s Powers

November 10, 2016 By Clarissa 2 Comments

spn

The Thule Society was first introduced in season 8 of SUPERNATURAL. According to show lore, the organization originated in Europe, had access to magic, and was sponsored by the Nazi party in its early days. The Winchesters and their allies have managed to defeat the Thule twice now, most recently in the episode “The Vessel”, when a female member of the Men of Letters prevented the Thule from getting the Hand of God — a magical artifact with tremendous power.

The Winchesters will be doing battle with the Thule Society again in this week’s episode when they learn that the Thule are attempting to resurrect its old leader.

During a visit to Vancouver last week*, SUPERNATURAL stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles (joined by Misha Collins), spoke to journalists about this week’s episode, the  legacy of Sam’s psychic powers, the methods of the British Men of Letters, and how the boys are still trying to reconnect with their resurrected mother.

Winchesters vs. Thules. “We find out that the Thule, who are back….we believe they may have been in control or in possession of a cursed object of sorts that might have a bit of Hitler’s soul,” Padalecki teased. “And they’re trying to do a Jurassic Park and take the amber out of the tree sap and the mosquito DNA or whatever. Obviously we don’t know how it’s going and so we have to kind of go back and track the Thule and figure out if, in fact, they have succeeded. Though Hitler’s vessel, thankfully, is gone.” However, while Hitler’s vessel may be gone, you should expect to see the “SUPERNATURAL take on what Hitler was really like behind the camera.”

Sam’s Powers. Sam hasn’t used his psychic powers in many years, but the last episode brought them to the forefront when he found another psychic — Magda — who was punished by her deeply religious family for the abilities she was unable to control. Sam managed to get through to her rage by recounting his own experience with the same types of powers. But that doesn’t mean that these abilities will be returning, according to Padalecki. His conversation with Magda was about connecting with her and trying to get her to look past her desire for revenge: “I don’t think it’s something he feels is going to come back or he’s hoping will come back. I think he probably – even though there were obvious benefits, I think he’s probably hoping it doesn’t come back, but he acknowledges it. He considers it part of himself.”

The British Men of Letters. At the end of the last episode we met the mysterious Mr. Ketch, who is cleaning up the “messes” that the Winchesters leave behind. While the pair chose to let psychic Magda live and repair her life after she was held captive by her own mother, Ketch and the British MOL executed her. This is a storyline that will continue to plague the brothers, according to Ackles: “It’s interesting, we’re going to see that storyline get fleshed out in the second half of the season. There’s gonna be some recruitment attempts, some disagreements about methods of hunting, and that will certainly boil to a point. But as of right now, [the British MOL] are trying their method of trying to include us by showing that they have a superior method of dealing with these things than we do, and they’re trying to get us on board with that. But I think we’ll find out in the future that maybe their methods aren’t the best way.” Padalecki called back to an older storyline, saying that it felt familiar in these circumstances: “For me it’s reminiscent of season 6 when Sam was soulless and kind of behaved much the same way the British Men of Letters are behaving now, or at least in their hunting tactics and Dean was obviously not, so it’s fun to revisit that.”

Reconnecting with Mom. In the last episode we also saw the brothers try to deal with losing Mary all over again. This time their mother chose to take a bit of space away from her boys in order to deal with being overwhelmed after recently being brought back to life.  The brothers dealt with this fresh loss in different ways — Sam was understanding of Mary’s need for space, but Dean felt incredibly hurt by her decision. By the end of the episode he seemed more accepting of it when he received a text from Mary saying that she would always be their mother and that she loved them both.  But the awkwardness will continue as the boys struggle to learn the real life person behind the mythical figure Mary has been all their lives. Ackles explained that “There are certainly two different relationships going on, from Sam’s perspective and then from my perspective as well, or rather Dean’s perspective. Because Sam never had a relationship with mom. He was an infant. And Dean didn’t have much of one either. A lot of what he knows and what he remembers about his mother was kind of dictated to him by his father. It’s more his father’s memories of her than it is Dean’s established memories of her. But it’s unique because she’s their mother, but she’s also kind of a stranger. Obviously the brothers are strangers to her as well, which is why you see this struggle to find their footing in the relationship because it is a forced situation. And at least from Dean’s perspective, he doesn’t really know how to fit. He doesn’t know how to categorize the relationship. It’s an awkward thing which I think lends itself to good story.”

We’ve seen hunters’ funerals before on SUPERNATURAL, but we’ve never really seen a true hunters’ gathering before on the show. After The Roadhouse was destroyed all the way back in season 2, SUPERNATURAL didn’t tend to bring large groups of hunters together any longer. Sam and Dean have certainly encountered a few hunters in the years since — and there was a strong indication that someone like Bobby was well-connected — but the show is really delving into the hunter storyline in season 12.

In an upcoming episode titled “Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox”, a group of hunters gather to celebrate the life and tragic death of one of their own. Sam and Dean will meet up again with their mother, Mary Winchester, although her relationship to the victim is currently unknown. At the funeral, the hunters start getting picked off one by one by a demon, leaving the Winchesters to take action and prevent more deaths. According to photos, Jody Mills and Billie the reaper will both be appearing in the episode.

Back at Comic-Con, SUPERNATURAL producer Andrew Dabb said that an early season 12 episode will be the “triumphant or not-so-triumphant” return for the Thule, who have decided to bring back Hitler. But the SUPERNATURAL version of Hitler is described as a “psychotic Richard Simmons.” Apparently “Sam and Dean are going to find Hitler,” Dabb teased. “And I think that’s opening up some interesting doors for us just in terms of doing more crazy stuff.”

The episode, titled “The One You’ve Been Waiting For”, will have Sam and Dean learning that the soul of Adolf Hitler has been trapped in a 1930’s gold pocket watch. Once the Winchester brothers learn about this, they have to act quickly to prevent the Thule for resurrecting the Führer.

SUPERNATURAL Preview: A Family Secret

October 27, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural1

The Winchesters headed out on a family hunting trip in this week’s SUPERNATURAL when Mary got wind of a case involving two people killed in a locked room. The case led them to an abandoned and run-down house that was haunted. When Mary got marked by the ghost, the boys left her behind to salt and burn the corpse. But Mary returned to the house and got possessed, attacking her sons before they could figure out how to stop the ghost. In the end, however, Mary mourned losing John and her sons as she knew them, opting to leave for now after telling Sam and Dean that she loved them.

Meanwhile, Castiel headed out after getting a lead on Lucifer and was soon joined by Crowley, who proposed that they pair up to find the Devil. The duo headed out to find Vince Vicente’s sister, Wendy, and Castiel realized that Lucifer had Rowena. At Vince’s cabin, Rowena performed some fancy spell work to banish Lucifer and speed up the decaying process of his vessel. Now he’s MIA.

In next week’s SUPERNATURAL the Winchester brothers investigate a case involving a very religious family living off the grid. And it turns out that the family is hiding a big secret that could be disastrous. Meanwhile, the brothers continue to reel from Mary’s decision to head out on her own.

SUPERNATURAL Photos: Living Off the Grid

October 27, 2016 By Clarissa 1 Comment

Many years ago, in the early years of SUPERNATURAL, Dean Winchester said that monsters were something he understood, but people? People are unpredictable. And sometimes even more dangerous than monsters.

In an early November episode, titled “American Nightmare”, the Winchester brothers get word of a case that leads them to a devout religious family that lives off the grid. While Sam and Dean have spent 12 years fighting monsters, demons, ghosts and all manner of supernatural creatures, will this be another (extraordinary) time that they have to fight humans? The brothers discover that the parents in the family are “hiding a huge secret that could destroy them all,” according to The CW. So is this a regular human secret or are they hiding some sort of supernatural one?

Meanwhile, the network says that “Dean struggles to accept Mary’s latest decision”. What could that decision be? Does she decide to go off and hunt on her own? Or is the newly resurrected Winchester turning her back on the family business?

Browse through photos below for an all new episode of SUPERNATURAL airing on Thursday, November 3 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

SUPERNATURAL Sneak Peek: The Hunt for Lucifer Begins

October 27, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

In the last episode of SUPERNATURAL we saw that Lucifer finally settled on a vessel after body-jumping since the time Amara cast him out of Castiel. This time he tricked rockstar Vince Vicente into becoming his vessel and now he has Rowena in his clutches, which means that Crowley can no longer use her to send the devil back to Hell.

In this week’s episode, we begin with Sam and Dean digging for information on the British Men of Letters. Unfortunately, the MOL bunker is light on valuable intel about their British counterparts, which frustrates the brothers.

Enter Castiel, who says he has a lead on Lucifer and is heading out to Cleveland to find him. The brothers think it’s a lead worth pursuing, but Castiel realizes that he’s the one who let Lucifer out of Hell, which means he’s headed out to find him alone — at least for now.

As Castiel eventually teams up with Crowley to track down Lucifer, Mary joins her sons on a spooky hunt (watch a preview) involving a crying baby in a run-down house.

SUPERNATURAL airs tonight (October 27) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
