The CW renewed the majority of its existing schedule, so there wasn’t a lot of room for new shows next season, which led to the network picking up four shows. Among the new shows is another pilot based on a DC character — Black Lightning — which brings the total of CW/DC shows to five (basically half their schedule). In addition, the network is rebooting DYNASTY with a more modern version courtesy of the creators of GOSSIP GIRL.

As for the schedule itself, there are a few shows on the move for next year. For example, JANE THE VIRGIN is moving to Friday nights, while ARROW and RIVERDALE are switching slots.

It’s Upfronts Week, which means the broadcast networks are presenting their 2017-2018 primetime schedules to advertisers. The benefit for TV fans is that we get a glimpse at the networks’ fall and midseason schedules, as well as sneak peeks at the new shows we’ll be watching next season.
There’s a lot of information coming your way over the next five days, so we have put together a central hub for TV Addict readers to find all of the news and trailers coming from the networks from Sunday to Thursday.

Back in January The CW announced early renews for seven of its shows, but the fate of several shows hung in the balance. Then news came that shows such as RIVERDALE and THE 100 had been renewed and now the network has renewed iZOMBIE and THE ORIGINALS.
Both shows returned at midseason this year and while THE ORIGINALS sister-series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES ended after 8 seasons, it looks like both vampires and zombies will continue on the network.
The CW also recently cancelled freshman shows NO TOMORROW and FREQUENCY, making RIVERDALE the only freshman series to score a season 2 renewal. As of now, the fate of all CW new and returning shows has been announced.
