If there is one downside to the networks holding onto many of their lesser rated series this season (Rather than cancel them outright as in years past), it’s that PVR/DVR space is at a premium. Seriously. Now more than ever, TV Addicts such as myself are constantly fighting an uphill battle as we attempt to watch, record and erase many of our favorites (Particularly since we may-or-may-not steadfastly refuse to delete those final four episode of EVERWOOD that have been taking up space on our hard drive for years.) Which is why, as of late we’ve started to notice a peculiar trend in our viewing habits. Rather than risk the dreaded “Recording was cut short due to lack of hard drive space” message, we’ve started to relegate certain shows to online viewing only. Shows that don’t necessarily warrant — yes we’re talking to you last night’s DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES plane crash that looked to have cost no more than $18 in glue and model airplanes — are now predominantly watched online (thank-you-very-much CTV.ca). A trend that begs the question, are we the only ones who have started to do this? And what shows do you deem important enough to keep up with, but more on a casual online-only viewing basis?

NBC Gets its Mid-Season Report Card
The Good: ‘The Biggest Loser’ are three words that not only sum up one of NBC’s only bright-spots ratings-wise this fall, but also the fact that the downward spiral that the Peacock Network currently finds itself in has not just one, but two benefits for us TV Addicts. (1) It has set NBC’s bar for renewal so low, that is has allowed for little-watched laughers such as PARKS AND RECREATION, 30 ROCK (and hopefully COMMUNITY) to flourish. And (2) It has forced NBC to try harder, as evidence by recent deals that has the network paying top dollar for the top talent such as J.J. Abrams and David Tennant, both of whom are involved in shows set to launch next fall.
The Bad: Where to begin? From the network’s inability to recapture that must-see-TV magic with underwhelming new offering such as TRAUMA (It’s ER with bigger explosions!) and MERCY (GREY’S ANATOMY + Nurses!), to the failed JAY LENO experiment that has tarnished the brand, brought Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon down in the process and turned the once proud Peacock into Hollywood’s laughing stock, Fall 2009 may go down as one of the worst starts to the season since NBC launched MANIMAL (An NBC action-adventure-fantasy series revolving around a scientists turned shapeshifter that lasted eight episodes in 1983 before quickly becoming an industry joke.)
Morning Static: Alexis Denisof, Laura Leighton, Jerry O’Connell & More!
• Pretty little cast additions, Alexis Denisof and Laura Leighton joins PRIVILEGED’s Lucy Hale in ABC Family’s PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
• Everybody Loves Raymond, no really.
• Out: Sendhil Ramamurthy, In: Jerry O’Connell, who will replace Ramamurthy in NBC’s comedy/drama hybrid REX IS NOT YOUR LAWYER due to scheduling conflicts.
• WHITE COLLAR fans get burned, by shocking fall finale turn of events.
• MONK FTW, USA Network series finale attracts a record 9.4 million viewers.

Blake Lively Hosts SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, Find Out If She Made The Grade!
Although this TV Addict is the first to admit that we’ve taken more than our fair share of shots at SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE over the years, the generally uneven NBC late night institution does excel at one thing: Acting as a barometer for whether or not the particular week’s host (aka. Hollywood’s current “It” Boy or Girl) has what it takes to make it in this crazy business we like to call show. So just how did GOSSIP GIRL’s Blake Lively stack up? Find out for yourself after the jump.

First Look: A Very BIG BANG THEORY Christmas
Earlier today, this TV Addict posted our list of five guest stars that we’re really excited for. Well, thanks to some just obtained photos, we’re going to have to amend that list to include a sixth: Christine Baranski. Who, much to Sheldon (and our) delight will be dropping in on the gang on the December 14th very special Christmas episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY. How do Leonard and Penny feel about this? Take a guess, see for yourself by checking out some more first look photos after the jump.
