Today’s TV Addict Top 5: TV Stories Irking C.T. This Week
Grinchy Technicians
The National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians — upset about current contract negotiations — announced plans to disrupt NBC’s annual “Christmas In Rockerfeller Center” telecast, saying via press release, “We can’t let the Grinch at NBC steal another Christmas from thousands of honest, hard-working people.” So, um, afford me a moment of clarity, guys: You can’t abide NBC screwing up Christmas for thousands of your members, so to express that, you’ll interrupt a beloved holiday tradition enjoyed by millions of people? Extra coal in your stockings.
Racing Idiots
Apparently, Caitlin Upton — aka the Miss Teen USA contestant who personally believes that U.S. Americans are unable to locate their country on a world map because some people out there don’t have maps and our education such as in Africa and the Iraq and so on — will be a contestant on the next cycle of THE AMAZING RACE. Remember when this show was content to have fat frat boys and squabbling siblings instead of pseudo celebs like this twit?
Morning Static: Adam Lambert, TRUE BLOOD & SONS OF ANARCHY
• Always Be Canceling, is what ABC now stands for after yet again bumping Adam Lambert off its scheduled December 17th appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.

• FX puts a smile on the faces of burly bikers everywhere, renews SONS OF ANARCHY for a third season.
• You know you’re an addict when… you’ve seen 9 out of the 10 most watched shows of the decade
• Career Trajectory Alert! Kevin Pollak has been tapped to host FOX’s new reality competition OUR LITTLE GENIUSES.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with PRIVATE PRACTICE Star Chris Lowell
On Thursday, ABC will air back-to-back episodes of PRIVATE PRACTICE, the second of which will bring to the forefront Dell, when a terrible explosion at his house lands daughter Betsey and wife Heather in the hospital. And here to talk a little bit about the episode, where Dell has been all season long, and of course VERONICA MARS is Chris Lowell.
Dell has really been pushed to the background this season. Can you talk a little bit about why that happened, and if this Thursday’s episode will mark somewhat of a resurgence for your character?
When Shonda [Rhimes] and I talked about doing less episodes this season [Lowell will reportedly be in 13 of the season’s 22 episodes] the idea behind it was instead of putting Dell in every episode — where a lot of the times he wasn’t doing anything particularly significant to the episode, show, or plot — give Dell less episodes, but make his roles in them more significant. Thursday is a huge episode, I certainly prefer coming to work and having really meaty stuff to do everyday. And from what I understand you’ll be seeing Dell around more and more.
We’ve Got Your Sneak Peek at DEXTER’s Killer Penultimate Episode
[flashvideo filename=”video/dexter.flv” /]
If you’ve been watching DEXTER’s suspense-filled fourth season, odds are fairly good that you don’t actually need a reason to get excited for this Sunday’s penultimate episode. That said, a little tease never hurst, which is we’re thrilled to present this brief glimpse into some of the neuroses that will be plaguing one Dexter Morgan come Sunday.
You Be the Critic: SCRUBS Season 9
As someone who has stuck with SCRUBS from episode one, last night’s back-to-back return was for lack of a better word: A massive disappointment. That said, having the utmost respect for creator Bill Lawrence and his wish to have a-go at SCRUBS: THE NEW CLASS if only so that hundreds of hard working writers, crew members and actors didn’t find themselves out of a job during this unfortunate economic downturn, this TV Addict thought — rather than take the easy way out by proclaiming the new SCRUBS D.O.A — we’d offer up a few helpful suggestions on what needs to be fixed.
Zach Braff needs to go, and stat!
When we first met the character of John Dorian eight years ago, his incessant need to be loved and never-ending attempt to win Dr. Cox’s approval was both endearing and funny. Yet after season after seasons of watching JD devolve into an overgrown man-child with a penchant for hugging and a propensity for “guy love,” the joke is waaaaaay past its best before date. So much so that we found ourselves actually feeling bad while watching this impending fictional father-to-be continue to so desperately seek the approval of others. Sure, on paper, having JD help launch this new class of SCRUBS might have seemed like a good idea — but in reality — it did nothing more than depress us. And worse…
