Lunch Break: GLEE’s Darren Criss Sings “Part of Your World”
Getting By with a Little Help From His Friend(s), We Shine the Spotlight on Star Joshua Malina
If the likes of Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider have taught us anything, it’s that relationships in Hollywood is the one currency you can really bank on. Just ask Joshua Malina, who can attribute his decades long career on such beloved shows like SPORTS NIGHT, THE WEST WING and more recently USA’s IN PLAIN SIGHT on one very important person.
His mother.
“Once I got over my professional ambition to be a Rabbi, it was clear from a very young age that I wanted to be an actor. And I think it was at such a young age that my parents were fairly reconciled to it,” explained Malina during a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “Of course, being the good Jewish mother that she is, her big thing was, ‘If that’s what you wanted to do, go for it. But go to College, please go to College, so you have something to fall back on’.”
Thus, after graduating with a B.A. in Theatre Studies, (Joked the actor, “I’m not sure how I’m supposed to fall back on that, but apparently that is my cushion.”) his mother had one more teensy little bit of advice. A bit of advice that would fortuitously change the course of Malina’s life forever.

The Changing Face of Television & the Proliferation of New Content Created for the Web
By: Tiffany Vogt
If past decade of television has taught us anything, it is that reality television is here to stay. Although interest in reality television has waned a bit in recent years, the same can be said of scripted television shows. Ratings have declined on all fronts – it is not exclusive to either reality television or scripted television.
So such decline has led to speculation about what will be the next big thing. What will be the determining factor to reshape television as we know it? With the popularity of reality television since 2000, it has been hard to see that a brand new arena of content has sprung up under our noses.
Also increasingly popular in the past decade has been the proliferation of social networking. Whether it be MySpace, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube, the internet has broken out as the next big thing. Not content to sit in front of a television, teenagers today are consuming their entertainment via their iPods and iPhones. Thus, televised media has morphed into web media. One cannot only watch television shows on the ‘net, one can now watch a whole array of original content created specifically for the web.
It is still uncertain how to make such original content viable from a profit perspective, but despite the dubious certainty of economic gain, it has not stopped entrepreneurial minds from venturing out and staking a claim on the web. It is cheap, it is accessible — and there are millions of untapped potential in viewers searching for something to watch and interact with.

3 Unexpectedly Positive Things to Kinda, well Maybe, Possibly Come Out of FOX’s Midseason Schedule
It’s been almost three days since FOX released their 2010-2011 Midseason Schedule and we’re not gonna lie, it hasn’t been easy. Yet after burying our feelings in thin crust Dominos pizza and coming to the conclusion that Network President Kevin Reilly probably isn’t a shapeshifter sent by Walternate to put an swift end to the FRINGE team we’ve come to know and love, something finally occurred to us: It’s kinda, well, maybe possible that the new FOX schedule isn’t all that bad. Find out why after the jump.
