Ask the Addict: Spoilers for TRUE BLOOD, GLEE, LIE TO ME & More!
Because waiting until the June 13 premiere, for lack of a better word SUCKS, I’m gonna need some TRUE BLOOD scoop! — Marlee
The TV Addict: Okay, here’s the deal. Despite having already had the pleasure of sinking our teeth into the first three episodes of the new season, we are not the least bit interested in spoiling one of the summer’s true delights that is BLOOD’s trademark oh-no-they-didn’t-just-do-that moments by revealing, say… the circumstances surrounding Eric and Sookie’s first face-to-face of the season! What we will say is that creator Alan Ball may have spent a little too much time during his hiatus online because one particular scene from the premiere reads as if it was ripped directly from some very dirty wishful fan fiction.
As an enormous fan of the books, I’m counting down the days until the premiere of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. Have you seen the pilot? And if so, what did you think? — Madison
The TV Addict: ABC’s Family’s newest summer offering is GOSSIP GIRL, meets Cruel Intentions with a dash of I Know What You Did Last Summer thrown in for good measure. Better still, complete with scantily clad teenagers, sexy British imports, and copious amounts of scandal (You would not believe what PRIVILEGED alum Lucy Hale does with a teacher. Seriously. JoAnna Garcia would not approve!), PRETTY LITTLE LIARS — which premieres June 8 at 8PM — is well on its way to becoming our official choice for this summer’s guiltiest pleasure.
Our Season Finale Awards Celebrating the Good (And Not-so-good!)
If there’s one thing we’ve learned to recognize after four years of blogging, it’s a good idea when we see one. Thus, in response to Entertainment Weekly’s Season finale awards celebrating the good (and well, not-so-good) we present our take. Feel free to share yours in the comments below.
Best Death: From THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, Uncle John, in the kitchen, with a butcher knife. Ouch!
Most Welcome Exit for an Unloved Character: That noise you just heard, the collective cheer of GOSSIP GIRL fans around the world upong spotting Jenny taking a bus out of town.
Best Overall Ending to an Otherwise Crappy Season: Despite still not having had the chance to see it — it’s hard to ignore the buzz surrounding the GREY’S ANATOMY two-part shocker. Also hard to ignore, the stock price of “Kleenex,” which has gone through the roof. Seriously. Just how many lives hang in the balance?!
Worst Overall Ending to an Otherwise Solid Season: BONES. Don’t believe us, go ahead and look up the term “cruel and unusual punishment” in the dictionary, we have a feeling you’ll see Hart Hanson laughing maniacally.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Highly Predictable Season Finales
THE GOOD WIFE
Political intrigue, family drama and the return of Cary! Yes, Tuesday’s season finale of THE GOOD WIFE had all the makings of a fantastic season ender. Until of course the overzealous publicity department at CBS inexplicably felt the need to completely spoil the ending by releasing what turned out to be a virtual shot-for-shot slideshow of the season’s not-so-shocking final moment (See above photo). Talk about your not-so-good-ending to a great season.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with THE GOOD GUYS Creator Matt Nix
BURN NOTICE and the USA network in general are (excuse the pun) on fire right now. Do you think there’s something of a national mood that wants to see these funny cops versus more serious procedural dramas?
Matt Nix: Let me say I certainly hope so. I think that both kinds of shows have a place and there’s certainly room in the entertainment universe for cop shows that do more of a kind of dire, dramatic or even horror-filled kind of crime-solving. That said, in talking to people who respond to the kind of thing that I’m doing, a lot of people respond to the fact they they’re essentially upbeat shows. That’s an unintentional pun, but it’s true of BURN NOTICE as well. It’s a good-guys-win show. Whatever narrative twists there are at work, there might be a sympathetic bad guy you’re sort of rooting for, whatever interesting twists we’re throwing in or things that are unusual, at the end of the day, you’re coming out of that show feeling good about what happened.
One of the things that really surprised me about BURN NOTICE and I would hope for with THE GOOD GUYS as well, they turned into kind of family shows. I didn’t really think of it that way, but as it turned out, it’s something that people feel comfortable watching with their kids because it’s essentially upbeat. At the end of the days there’s nothing to explain to the children, that there’s not a profound shaking of worldview. I think there’s room for that.

Crap CBS Says
Someone needs to give the folks at CBS a reality check.
In responding to the predictable ire in some circles regarding the title of the otherwise completely innocuous and unworthy of attention series $H*! MY DAD SAYS, the network is pointing out that “the program is inspired by the wildly popular Twitter phenomena, which now has more than 1.5 million followers.”
Um, 1.5 million is a lot of followers… on twitter. On television? Not so much. If the show managed to bring in twice as many viewers as it has followers, it would still be considered a huge, massive, undeniable, cancel-it-for-the-love-of-God-we-are-bleeding-money failure.
There was absolutely no reason that CBS couldn’t have gone with the title CRAP MY DAD SAYS… except, of course, for the fact that in doing so, they wouldn’t have gotten the free publicity they’ve gotten for a show that is, by all accounts, no MODERN FAMILY.

LOST Series Finale: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
The Good: What started with an eye opening pilot (in every sense of the word) ended with an eye closing — and our favorite story-telling device “the bookend” — as Jack died a heroic death, successfully defeating Ol’Smokey, single-handidly saving humanity from an uncorked island of evil, and in doing so, allowing for Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, Richard and Frank to escape in one piece. Add to that a fitting end (or beginning if you will) for Hurley (aka. the “New Jacob”) who was left as the island’s protector (with a redemptive Ben Linus as his number two), a much-anticipated homage to The Lion King confrontation between Jack and Locke who finally took the gloves off in a fight to the death on the edge of a cliff (Cue Hans Zimmer score in 3… 2… 1…), a stop-over with a happy Rose, Bernard and Vincent doing their best impersonation of The Swiss Family Robinson, and a flurry of flashbacks/character reunions (Sawyer and Juliet FTW!) that highlighted some of the show’s most memorable moments, and fans were left with a super-sized love letter to those of us who had invested six years of our life into this unforgettable odyssey.
