March 31, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

max-thieriot-as-dylan-massett

There was always something a little off and unexplained about the relationship of Norma (Vera Farmiga) and her eldest son, Dylan (Max Thieriot). She seemed so uncomfortable around him and like she could not bear the sight of him most days. So finding out that Dylan was likely the product of Norma’s brother Caleb (Kenny Johnson) forcing himself on her finally shed light on a very painful secret Norma has been hiding and running from for a very long time.

In a recent press conference call, stars Max Thieriot and Kenny Johnson talked about their complicated and damaged characters and the dark path that they seem to be caught up on as they get deeper and deeper into Norma and Norman’s lives. [Read more…]

ARROW Scoop: Jessica De Gouw and EP Marc Guggenheim Preview “Birds of Prey”

March 26, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Jessica De Gouw

The Huntress is back!  After the big showdown in Season 1, where Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) stopped Helena Bertinelli (Jessica de Gouw) from killing her father, fans have wondered if and when the Huntress would return.  Well, this is it.  All of Oliver’s worst fears are realized when Helena returns and she will literally stop at nothing to get her prey – even if it means taking out someone Oliver loves in the process.

This week’s episode “Birds of Prey,” puts both Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and her sister Sara (Caity Lotz) right in the crosshairs of the Huntress.  This was absolutely the worst time for Laurel to decide to go back to work, the same week that Frank Bertinelli is caught and Helena catches wind of his arrest; and Laurel being Laurel is way too stubborn to know when she is over her head.  Fortunately, stubbornness runs in the Lance family as both Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and Sara race to keep Laurel from harm while Oliver continues to chase his own prey, the elusive Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett).

During last week’s press conference, special guest star Jessica de Gouw and executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared a few insights about “Birds of Prey”: [Read more…]

BATES MOTEL Scoop: Season 2 Returns With Murder, Romance and Threats from All Sides (feat. interviews with Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Michael Vartan, Nestor Carbonell and More!)

March 3, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

bates-motel-season-2-poster

When we last visited BATES MOTEL at the end of Season 1, it ended with the brutal murder of Ms. Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy). Season 2 picks up right afterwards as Norman (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) find out about her death, and their subsequent fears about who may ultimately be responsible. Norma has that uneasy feeling that her son may somehow be involved and yet wants to believe him incapable of that kind of violence – again. It was one thing for Norman to have killed his own father in a fugue state, but what could have compelled Norman to kill one of his favorite teachers? It seems unfathomable.

Fortunately, as the mystery surrounding Ms. Watson’s death unfolds, more than one suspect emerges when it is discovered that Ms. Watson had a private life that may have exposed her to greater danger than one would think for a mere high school teacher.

Then in Dylan’s (Max Thieriot) seemingly unconnected world of the underground marijuana industry in White Pine Bay, there is a power shift afoot that makes things a lot more uncertain and risky for him as well. Two new vying power brokers make a play for control of the weed industry and Dylan seems caught-up in the crosshairs.

As if murder, rampant crime and a rising drug industry were not enough to preoccupy the entire Bates family, a few other surprises arrive on their doorstep. There are new love interests for everyone. In fact, love is in the air.

Season 2 maybe about the heightened danger swirling all around, but it also about the need for human connection and the craving to be a part of a family. While people seem to sense that something is not entirely right with Norma and Norman, they cannot help but be drawn into their world; for there is an innate seductiveness about them that draws them in. For example, Emma and Sheriff Romero know all to well that it is wiser to keep the Bates at arms’ length, but the illusion of normalcy and love that Norma and Norman exude brings them closer. Like leaning in to feel the heat of a flame – it feels warm and inviting, until you get to close and get burned. Even Dylan seems in denial about the oddity of his own family.

So caught up in the Bates’ irresistible lure for Season 2 are newcomers: Caleb Calhoun (Norma’s estranged brother, portrayed by Kenny Johnson), George Heldens (Norma’s new love interest, portrayed by Michael Vartan), Cody Brennan (Norman’s new wild-child friend, portrayed by Paloma Kwiatowski), and Jodi Wilson (a business woman with an agenda, portrayed by Kathleen Robertson).

At last week’s premiere event, the cast took a few minutes to preview what Season 2 holds for their characters: [Read more…]

BATES MOTEL Scoop: Vera Farmiga and EP Kerry Ehrin Preview The Painful Journey of Norma in Season 2

February 28, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Bates-Motel-Freddie-Highmore-Vera-Farmiga1

The first season of BATES MOTEL introduced viewers to the double-layered world of Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga). On the surface it looked normal, but just below the surface was a layer of uncertainty and insanity. The mother-son duo, to the casual eye, were all normal and just fine. But as we got to know them better, they were not quite as normal as they appeared. Something was off. Their perspective warped by their life experiences and perhaps a few genetic proclivities as well. Fighting the non-normal impulses, Norma was the more self-aware of the two; but with each episode viewers fell under the self-delusional spell of Normal and Norman. Seeing the world through their eyes heightened the prevailing sense of fear, paranoia and irrational belief of love when perhaps none was truly there.

A spasm of reality crept in in the Season 1 finale with the murder of Ms. Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy), leaving both Norman and Norma to wonder if Norman was capable of killing again, albeit in a fugue state so that he could not remember it.

In a recent press conference call, star Vera Farmiga and executive producer Kerry Ehrin talked about Norma’s painful journey of self-discovery and self-realization in Season 2 of BATES MOTEL: [Read more…]

Promo Park: ARROW Season 2 Episode 10 “Blast Radius” Sneak Peek!

January 2, 2014 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

ARROW HUNTS DOWN SHRAPNEL — Oliver must tackle a new threat to the city when bombs start to go off in Starling City. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) discovers the person setting them off is Mark Sheffner (guest star Sean Maher), a man who goes by the nickname Shrapnel. Arrow discovers Shrapnel’s next target is Sebastian Blood’s (guest star Kevin Alejandro) “Unity Rally” and tries to talk the alderman out of hosting it, but he refuses. Arrow sets off to stop the bombing, but Shrapnel tricks him and traps him in a bomb-laced antique store where he is unable to move without setting off the device. While Felicity helps Oliver, Diggle (David Ramsey) races to the plaza to find the bomb before it goes off. Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) continues to hide his new strength from Thea (Willa Holland) but, after she witnesses his super strength in action at the rally, she demands answers. Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) suspicions about Sebastian grow stronger once she learns that he grew up with Cyrus Gold, the man who killed Lance’s (Paul Blackthorne) partner. After Donner (guest Star Dylan Bruce) refuses to help her investigate, she turns to Arrow (Stephen Amell) for help. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Jake Coburn & Keto Shimizu. [Read more…]

ARROW Preview: A Flashy New Face, A Returning Villain and A Party!

December 4, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

When we last left off with our heroes of Starling City, two stunning events had just occurred: (1) Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) was acquitted for her part in the Reckoning, and (2) Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) returned announcing that he was the father of Thea Queen. It is hard to say which moment caused fans jaws to drop harder, but certainly many were left stunned by these sudden shocking events. Even Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was surprised to see his mother escape the vengeful wrath of justice. But apparently that was all Malcolm’s doing – he pulled a few strings to ensure that Moira was freed. [Read more…]
