SUPERNATURAL Preview: Seeking the Hand of God

February 10, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

The Winchesters celebrated Valentine’s Day this week on SUPERNATURAL by investigating the murders of several people who had had their hearts ripped out (so romantic, we know). A shapeshifter had killed a husband who was cheating on his wife with the babysitter (and killed the babysitter as well). It turns out that the man’s wife had dabbled in magic — courtesy of her white witch hairdresser — when she found out about the affair and the whole situation flew wildly out of control. When she herself was targeted, she called on the Winchesters for help. Dean kissed her and made himself a target and the shapeshifter — a manifestation of a curse and not a real shifter — turned into Dean’s “deepest, darkest desire” to come after him: Amara. After his latest encounter, Dean spilled the beans to his brother about the hold Amara has over him. Sam was understanding and didn’t blame Dean for it, but it’s clear he’s worried about his brother.

In next week’s episode, the Winchester brothers seek out the Hand of God — a weapon that could help them defeat Amara. The last time it was seen was in the 1940s on a submarine. Fortunately, they have an angel (well, the devil disguised as an angel) to help send them back in time. Casifer — seeing the benefit of getting his hands on such a weapon — agrees to send Dean back to retrieve it before it ends up on the bottom of the ocean. But will Lucifer tell Sam he’s possessing Cas while Dean is away?

SUPERNATURAL Photos: Submarines and the Hand of God

February 10, 2016 By Clarissa 2 Comments

supernatural

The Winchesters will be seeking a weapon powerful enough to defeat Amara in a mid-February episode of SUPERNATURAL.

In “The Vessel”, Dean and Sam suspect that the Hand of God could aid them in their fight against the ancient “evil”. The only problem is that the last reported sighting of the weapon was in 1944 on a submarine that sunk. So the brothers ask Castiel (who they don’t yet know is Lucifer) to send Dean back in time so he can retrieve the weapon before it ends up on the bottom of the ocean.

Casifer thinks that the weapon could be useful as well, so he agrees to send Dean back. While Dean tries to find the weapon in 1944, Casifer continues his charade with Sam as they await Dean’s return. But will Casifer reveal himself as Lucifer to Sam?

SUPERNATURAL Sneak Peek: Mr. Right Now

February 10, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

Dean Winchester loves Valentine’s Day on SUPERNATURAL. In fact, one time he referred to it as “Unattached Drifters’ Christmas”.

So it should come as no surprise that Dean has been engaging in some carnal acts with the ladies during this year’s Valentine’s Day. In a sneak peek from tonight’s episode, we see Sam asking his brother about his latest hickey one morning in the bunker. Dean’s response? That Valentine’s Day means he just has to be Mr. Right Now, not Mr. Right.

But that talk is put on hold by Sam, who has a new case for the Winchesters: a girl got her heart ripped out. As the brothers investigate a series of murders they discover that once someone is kissed by a curse, the person is marked to die.

SUPERNATURAL Photos: Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Winchesters

February 5, 2016 By Clarissa 2 Comments

supernatural

SUPERNATURAL has tackled Valentine’s Day once in a major way back in season 5 with “My Bloody Valentine”, which saw the Winchesters fighting the horseman Famine and meeting a (naked) cupid. Dean made another joke to Sam that he should “be [his] valentine” again in season 6 in “Mannequin 3: The Reckoning”. Now, in season 11, we’ll see the Winchesters encountering the cursed holiday again (or, as Dean likes to call it, “Unattached Drifter Christmas”).

In the upcoming “Love Hurts” episode, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a series of murders occurring on Valentine’s Day and figure out that they’re dealing with an ancient curse. Apparently once someone is kissed by the curse, the person is marked to die. Is some ancient creature going around kissing people and marking them for death? Is this a really serious version of the Mafia’s “kiss of death”?!

SUPERNATURAL Preview: Not Your Typical Valentine’s Day

February 3, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

Claire Novak called Sam and Dean for some monster help in this week’s SUPERNATURAL. While Alex was settling in to a normal life with Jody and high school, Claire was trying out the hunters’ life and attacking random people she thought were monsters. While Jody believed Claire was just chasing her imagination, it turned out there *was* something monstrous in town. Unfortunately, a vamp took both Jody and Claire, forcing the Winchesters to step in to help.

They eventually figured out that the monsters were vampires who had come for Alex. In fact, the vampire who was targeting Alex now had been a good Samaritan who was turned as a result of Alex’s alliance with vamps years before. Angry at Alex’s role in his death, he planned on killing her new family in front of her. Fortunately, Sam and Dean arrived in time to help the girls escape and kill the vamps.

In the next SUPERNATURAL, Dean and Sam investigate a series of murders on Valentine’s Day. It turns out that people who are “kissed” by an ancient curse are being killed and it’s up to the Winchester brothers to save the holiday!

Sheriff Jody Mills is returning to SUPERNATURAL, but this time she’s got a little entourage of teenage girls with her.

Claire Novak (Jimmy’s daughter) gives the Winchesters a panicked call and tells them that she believes the recent murders in town are due to supernatural beings. Dean and Sam pay a little visit to Jody, Claire and Alex (the other girl Jody had taken in), but Jody doesn’t believe there’s a case here for the boys. She tells them that Claire has been getting into trouble because she’s been attacking normal people and accusing them of being monsters. Is Claire on to something here or has she gone overboard?

SUPERNATURAL Preview: The Winchesters Visit Jody

January 27, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

Sam and Dean investigated strange deaths at a retirement home in this week’s SUPERNATURAL. It turned out an evil banshee was tormenting victims with its piercing screams, killing them and then feeding on their brains. One of the home’s staff workers had also been hunting banshees after her parents had been killed by one. She teamed up with the Winchesters to help trap the banshee, who ended up going after Dean. Fortunately, the hunters — along with one of the residents — managed to save Dean’s brain from being eaten and slayed the monster.

Sam was also preoccupied by his recent encounter with Lucifer, while Casifer (Lucifer in Cas) killed an angel who realized he was out of Hell and then paid a visit to the bunker to steal whatever he could. Dean stopped by to gather some weapons to kill the banshee and then spilled the beans about his connection to Amara to Casifer — handing over some valuable intel to his enemy.

In next week’s episode, the Winchesters pay a visit to Jody, Alex and Claire when Claire calls them and expresses concern that the recent murders in town are due to something supernatural. The boys wonder if she’s right, but Jody tells them that Claire may be overreacting. After all, she’s been attacking normal people lately and accusing them of being monsters.

SUPERNATURAL Photos: A Killer Song

January 25, 2016 By Clarissa

supernatural

Sam and Dean have dealt with interesting objects and beings that can kill on SUPERNATURAL, but an upcoming episode may be the first time someone has died thanks to music on the show.

In the late January episode, titled “Into the Mystic”, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a case where people (presumably in a retirement home from the looks of the photos below) are suffering violent deaths after hearing a mysterious song. Could the song itself be killing people? Is there a curse attached to it? Or are people summoning a creature via this song that’s actually killing them?

This concept isn’t new. You have something simliar with the film THE RING (and the earlier Japanese stories it is based on), which featured people dying after watching a mysterious and horrifying videotape. More recently, a fictional podcast named “The Black Tapes” had an episode focused on “the Unsound” — a demonic sound that would kill anyone who was exposed to it within a year (and was presumably used to summon demons into the world). In the podcast, a musician was layering the Unsound into his musical tracks so that it could not easily be heard, but was definitely present. Could something similar be happening here?

Meanwhile, Castiel made the reckless decision to become Lucifer’s vessel in the previous episode (read our recap) and now he’s pretending he’s still regular-old-Castiel around the Winchesters — but they’re starting to get suspicious about his behavior.

Browse through photos below for the January 27 episode of SUPERNATURAL airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
