TEEN WOLF Season 3 (Part 1) DVD – All About An Alpha War

December 10, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

Season 1 introduced Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) to the mysterious world of werewolves and hunters. Season 2 expands the mystical world to include other creatures, such as the Kanima, and explored the difficulty of creating an Alpha pack as Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) tried to recruit and create new members for his pack. Then in Season 3 the sleepy town of Beacon Hills got really crowded as many forms of werewolves and other worldly creatures seemed to descend upon it. There were suddenly werewolves, hunters, druids, a banshee and two Alphas that can join together to make a super werewolf. Everywhere you looked something dangerous was lurking around every dark corner.

Thus, it became more important than ever that Scott and Derek work together, along with their myriad of friends and allies to fight off the evil beings seeking to kill anyone they wanted to accomplish their sinister goals. Especially with the Darach (Haley Webb) collecting guardians, virgins, warriors, healers, and philosophers to sacrifice to increase her power and keep her safe from the warring Alphas — and to enact her personal vengeance on those who had destroyed her human life, leaving her the tortured soul that could only live by killing others to survive. SCANDAL Scoop: Jeff Perry Reflects on How Badly Cyrus’ Honey-Trap Backfired!

December 5, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

It is said that politics makes strange bed-fellows, but truly Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) never expected that it would be a literal prophecy. In the drama series SCANDAL, the third season has taken an unexpected detour as we have seen how horrifically political maneuvering can destroy marriages, friendships and personal relationships. As the White House Chief of Staff, it is Cyrus’ job to always be in control of all the behind-the-scenes schemes and do everything to protect the President and keep him in office. Yet in Cyrus’ haste to quash Vice President Sally Langston’s (Kate Burton) independent bid for the presidency, he out-maneuvered himself — Cyrus put his own husband unwittingly in a “honey trap” and once James (Dan Bucatinsky) realized it, he turned the tables on Cyrus and took the honey-trap too far. THE TOMORROW PEOPLE Preview: Dealing With the Devil Within

December 4, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In the last episode as Stephen (Robbie Amell) was fighting for his life with a deviant criminal, he saw something significant: his father. Not only was Jack Jameson (Jeffrey Pierce) alive, but he gave Stephen a critical one word message: Thanatos. Just what is Thanatos and what does it mean? In this week’s episode, Stephen and his Tomorrow People cohorts try to unravel that mystery.

Significantly, this week’s episode appropriately entitled “Thanatos” explores two parallel stories. The first is the search for Thanatos, which takes them directly to Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino); and the second, is a flashback look at the day John (Luke Mitchell) agreed to be transformed into an advanced version of the Tomorrow People – one that can kill. That pivotal day is seen both through Jedikiah’s eyes and John’s eyes and how that tragic day changed both their lives forever.

So while Stephen does what he always does, infiltrates Ultra headquarters and tries to get as much information as he can through their systems, and by asking one or two questions that may or may not raise some suspicion. [Read more…]

ARROW Preview: A Flashy New Face, A Returning Villain and A Party!

December 4, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

When we last left off with our heroes of Starling City, two stunning events had just occurred: (1) Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) was acquitted for her part in the Reckoning, and (2) Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) returned announcing that he was the father of Thea Queen. It is hard to say which moment caused fans jaws to drop harder, but certainly many were left stunned by these sudden shocking events. Even Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was surprised to see his mother escape the vengeful wrath of justice. But apparently that was all Malcolm’s doing – he pulled a few strings to ensure that Moira was freed. [Read more…]

NIKITA Preview: Wanted Dead or Alive and With a Few Doppelgangers Running Amuck!

November 29, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

For its final season, the CW series NIKITA is racing no holds barred to its epic series finale.  The series returned last week with the episode “Wanted,” as Nikita (Maggie Q) tried to return and clear her name by enlisting the aid of a sympathetic news reporter Dale Gordon (Todd Grinnell).  But that did not go as planned at all – at least not for Nikita.  It went exactly as planned for Amanda (Melinda Clarke).  Nikita was implicated in yet another high profile and public death as a massive explosion went off claiming the life of the Gordon and all the evidence Nikita had given him.  The culprit aiding Amanda in this nefarious execution turned out to be none other than FBI Director Matthew Graham (Alex Carter).  That’s right, another double had been revealed.  [Read more…]

DOCTOR WHO: Is Matt Smith the 13th Doctor?

November 26, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

After this past weekend’s phenomenal 50th anniversary DOCTOR WHO special “The Day of the Doctor,” which clarified that John Hurt’s portrayal of The Doctor was indeed one of thirteen regenerations, wild speculations arose as to whether Matt Smith could actually be the 13th Doctor. In fact, the Blastr article: “Confused? Moffat addresses all those Who regeneration limit questions” offered an intriguing analysis based on executive producer Steven Moffat’s recent statements in support of the theory.

With DOCTOR WHO spanning 50 years, it has been tricky to track all the regenerations. But when examined in detail, Matt Smith as the 13th Doctor theory holds up. Here are the known regenerations of The Doctor: [Read more…]

HOLLYWOOD ACTING STUDIO: Star Daniel Vincent Gordh Previews His New Outrageous Comedy Web Series

November 25, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In the modern world of digital media, cable television is jumping at the opportunity to launch new webseries on the internet in order to capture a piece of the shifting entertainment landscape. With Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and YouTube becoming the new kings of digital entertainment, cable and broadcast networks are looking to expand and create original content for the internet. Making a bold move in launching a series of new comedy shows strictly for the internet, Starz established its online presence with Union Pool — a YouTube channel for those in search of comedy entertainment.

One of the shows that Starz’s Union Pool channel features is HOLLYWOOD ACTING STUDIO. With just a few episodes posted, the outrageous webseries has quickly carved out a place in the comedy realm. Fortunately, additional episodes release every three weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays extending through next March 2014 in order to satiate the growing appetite for the misadventures of Professor Lafrange — a role delightfully and deliciously portrayed by comedian Drew Droege.

HOLLYWOOD ACTING STUDIO is a fictional look at what life inside an acting class is like if the teacher was a misguided narcissist who hilariously teaches all the wrong lessons to his patient and enduring class of students. Peeling back the curtain on Hollywood has never been more hilarious. Each episode explores what a typical struggling actor has to deal with each day in Hollywood: the audition, working as a background actor, filming sex scenes, working with child actors, typecasting, and more. The show also subtly pokes at a few popular film franchises and the cinematic tropes they exploit.

But, interestingly, HOLLYWOOD ACTING STUDIO has another twist: it is not just a comedy series filled with sketches; it is an exploration of the characters who try to rise above their varied learning-curves to prove that they can one day be an actor worthy of attention and respect. So there’s an element of heart that begins to show as the students struggle to attain the elusive skills needed to refine their craft and become genuine actors. Throughout the course of the first season, Professor Lafrange’s legacy shall either be set in stone, one bad acting lesson at a time, or his students will find a way to learn to be laud-worthy actors in spite of his crazy acting classes.

But the real genius of HOLLYWOOD ACTING STUDIO: it showcases a group of talented actors as fumbling, struggling students — and the sense that they are having fun shines through in every scene.

In an exclusive interview, star and co-executive producer Daniel Vincent Gordh (LIZZIE BENNET DIARIES) talked about the genesis of this fine comedy series and how it will showcase all the pitfalls of acting classes taught by self-obsessed performers. [Read more…]

HAVEN: Who Is the Real Audrey Parker?

November 22, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Try as I might, one nagging feeling has been tickling my brain all season: this is not the Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) that we know and love.  At first, she did not even try to be.  She was Lexie Dewitt (Emily Rose).  Then after Jennifer (Emma Lahana) opened the portal door back to Haven, Maine, Lexie reverted back to Audrey.   Her personality in the barn as Lexie was stripped away and revealed the person that she wanted to be:  Audrey. NIKITA Preview: The Hunt for the Most Wanted Woman in the World Begins Tonight!

November 22, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

For its fourth and final season, the CW spy drama NIKITA returns with six final episodes. The third season finale cliffhanger left Nikita (Maggie Q) as literally the most wanted woman in the world after she was framed for assassinating the U.S. President in the White House. But, as fans recall, while Nikita may have brought the gun into the Oval Office, she did not actually pull the trigger – the President shockingly did that herself, or rather a woman who looked like the President. We later saw that Amanda had the President carefully locked up, far away at the time a doppelganger shot herself trying to make it appear as if the President was actually dead. [Read more…]

TV NOW: The Decline of the Professional TV Blogs Versus the Rise of User Generated Content

November 21, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In the modern era of the Internet, it often feels like a free-for-all.  Everyone with a computer can set up a blog and write about television; some of which have reached unbelievable levels of notoriety and success, and some just exist by virtue of a tenacious content-provider.  But even the bigger television blog sites (both corporate and amateur) have faced unprecedented levels of decline; and with more viewers and fans reaching out and clamoring for more and more content every day, this seems inconceivable.  What is the reason for the decline and where are the readers/fans going for their voracious online fix? [Read more…]
