We Preview Tonight’s NEW GIRL Season Finale with a Little Help From a Few NEW GUYS!

May 8, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Perfectly timed to coincide with tonight’s first season finale of the NEW GIRL, Monday night saw Fox celebrate the freshman series with a screening for the the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences attended by fans and guild members alike. When asked why the show opted to steer clear of a cliffhanger for its finale, it was explained that NEW GIRL is comedy and not HOMELAND. Thus, the producers and writers felt it was fitting to bookend their season and not leave their fans hanging during the summer hiatus. They also wanted to give back to the fans who have faithfully watched the show this year and made sure to embed a few special homages just for them, such as the return of a favorite dance move and a peek into Cece’s modeling world. Preview: SHERLOCK Returns With A Fresh Spin on a Familiar Tale

May 6, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

Unlike the well-known stories of Arthur Conan Doyle or any other incarnation of the Sherlock Holmes of lore, the British series SHERLOCK is all about shock and awe.  Coming from mastermind Steven Moffat (currently helming DOCTOR WHO), this modern tale spins a web of mystery that is worthy of the name “Sherlock.”  Much has been written about the series, which dares to bring the notorious detective into present day, but truly nothing can capture the visually stunning imagery and finesse with which the series brings its unique stories to life.  The series is as clever as the man himself and dares viewers to take an extraordinary journey with it. Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow: A Closer Look At Tonight’s IN PLAIN SIGHT Series Finale

May 4, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

The hardest thing a television series will ever do is find a way to successfully close its series and leave fans feeling both satisfied and yet wanting more.  As a special treat and heart-felt “thank you” to its loyal fans, IN PLAIN SIGHT used its last eight episodes of its final season wisely and created a number of story arcs that would tie up the series neatly with a bow on top: including the final fate of the Albuquerque WITSEC office, bringing back Mary’s long-lost father, and previewing how its key characters would move forward in their lives beyond the finale. PERSON OF INTEREST Scoop: We Go Inside The Machine with Stars Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Kevin Chapman, EP Greg Plageman and Creator Jonathan Nolan

May 3, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In this week’s episode of CBS’s drama series PERSON OF INTEREST entitled “Many Happy Returns,” the show delves deeper into the mystery of who John Reese is and how  “the machine” actually came to be a part of his life.  PERSON OF INTEREST may look and feel like a weekly procedural in that each week as “the machine” generates numbers warning of an imminent threat against a person or persons which propels John Reese and Harold Finch to spring into action to save those unsuspecting individuals lives.  But episode-by-episode, we have also begun to wonder exactly how John Reese was chosen to be Harold Finch’s crusading warrior to save these people.  Was it simply because John had the requisite skills and a need for purpose in his life, or was there another reason that John was chosen?  And did Harold choose John or did “the machine”? ONCE UPON A TIME Redux: A Closer Look at the Magic of Storybrooke Lurking Beneath the Surface

April 29, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

ONCE "An Apple Red as Bood"

In last week’s episode “The Return,” a piece of the puzzle was revealed as August W. Booth a.k.a. The Stranger tried to pose as Mr. Gold’s long-lost son Baelfire.  While the episode did little to illuminate who August really is, we do now know that August is dying.  He has some kind of disease that is killing him and he is desperate to find a cure.  But the far more interesting revelation was that August even remembered that such a thing as magic existed, and he knew who Mr. Gold really is and that Mr. Gold had the power to cure him.  That knowledge is far more telling.  Despite Mr. Gold’s protest that there is no magic in Storybrooke, we have seen glimpses of it as the curse has been weakened by the mere presence of Emma. Is FRINGE’s “Letters of Transit” an Emmy Contender? We Make the Case!

April 27, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

The Fox series FRINGE has earned its place in the tenants of science fiction history as one of the best sci-fi series to air on television.  As the show wraps its fourth season, it has done the seemingly impossible and continues to get better and better with each episode.  It is like the show is racing towards its finish-line, pushing itself harder and faster to achieve its prodigious goals.

In its latest episode “Letters of Transit,” FRINGE upped its game once again.  The show has dared to take viewers into alternate verses, alternate timelines, and last week it dared to preview a totalitarian future — where the entire planet is ruled by the oppressive and omnipresent Observers.  While FRINGE gave us a glimpse of an unimaginable future at the end of its 3rd season in “The Day We Died,” it was but a foreshadow of what would happen should the alt-verse be destroyed to save our universe.  Whereas “Letters of Transit” ventured back into a murky and mysterious future to prophecy what will become of both universes should the Observers be allowed to take control and rule unchecked. Just like it was imperative to discover how much each of the parallel universes were dependent upon one another and needed each other; it is imperative now that both universes work together to find a way to prevent worldwide domination by the Observers.
