THE BLACKLIST Scoop: James Spader Reveals What Attracted Him to the Role of Mysterious Master Criminal Red Reddington

October 8, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Already a break-out hit of this Fall, THE BLACKLIST has seduced and entranced viewers into the wicked spy game of Red Reddington (James Spader) and why he is so fascinated by FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone).  In a recent press call, star James Spader offered some teasing speculations and candid answers about what exactly is Red’s plan and how does it involve Liz Keen.

The show has kind of hit on the broad strokes of Red’s past in the pilot, but are we ever going to get into the details of what sort of nitty-gritty bad, horrible things he’s done in the past?
JAMES: Yes, I think that’s going to be sort of eked out slowly over the course of the episodes. A sort of overall history lesson, I don’t think it will ever happen on the show. I think it’ll be over the lifespan of the show that you start to discover more and more about him.  You do start to see in subsequent episodes him conducting business. The first episode after the pilot is really the transition from him being a prisoner to working out the parameters of his deal with the FBI and the Department of Justice.  And then, of course, they take on a case immediately. But from that point, right away, you see he’s now moving freely. He is still living his life away from the FBI and in subsequent episodes, you see small samplings of him still conducting his nefarious affairs. [Read more…]

October 8, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Season 1 of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST revealed a real nightmare: a second beast — one who would kill without conscience.  Assistant District Attorney Gabe Lowen (Sendhil Ramamurthy) stalked Vincent (Jay Ryan) until he could obtain what he need from him — a way to irradiate Gabe’s beast, even if it was at the expense of Vincent’s life.  Vicious and without remorse, Gabe’s beast nearly destroyed them both.  When last seen at the end of Season 1, Gabe’s beast was shot and dying.  But as Season 2 quickly revealed, Catherine Chandler (Kristin Kreuk) saved his life in order to use Gabe in the search for Vincent.  In a recent press interview from the set, co-star Sendhil Ramamurthy gave the scoop on what is next for Gabe and how rocky his relationships will be with the the rest of the “Dream Team.” [Read more…]

GRIMM Preview: Star Bitsie Tulloch Gives the Inside Scoop on Season 3 and Previews Her Film “Parkland”

October 4, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In the NBC dark fairytale series GRIMM, there are creatures which seemed to have stepped right out of one of your nightmares. But not all creatures are to be feared. Known as wesen, some are good and some are evil, just like their human counterparts. Having just found out about the wesen world, Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) also found out that he is a descendent of a special lineage known as Grimms. In the first couple of seasons of GRIMM, Nick’s fiancé Juliette was living blissfully unaware of the wesen world and the particular new duties of her fiancé outside of his detective work. But finally as the end of Season 2, Nick revealed his secret life and this other supernatural world to Juliette. Unfortunately, just as Juliette was beginning to take it all in stride and get used to the idea of living with wesen all around, up came a zombie apocalypse.

The Season 2 finale left our hero Nick entrapped and exposed to the zombie venom, with Juliette and their friends Monroe and Rosalee left to fend for themselves against the encroaching zombie mob. In an exclusive interview, co-star Bitsie Tulloch talked about what obstacles our heroes face in Season 3 and where the Nick/Juliette romance is headed in the midst of all these huge revelations. October 3, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Last season on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Tess Vargas (Nina Lisandrello) had the biggest shock of her life. She found out that her partner’s boyfriend was a beast — literally. In Tess’ world, that should just not be possible. Humans are not beasts. Yet what her brain were telling her and what her eyes told her were distinctly at war. Still trying to assimilate to this new reality where human-beasts are actually possible, Tess returns in Season 2 determined to do two things: (1) help her friend Cat (Kristin Kreuk) any way she can and (2) get their professional careers back on track. This all sounds easier than it is to achieve. Fortunately, Tess is a resourceful woman. In a recent press interview from the set, Nina Lisandrello candidly talked about the hurdles ahead for Tess and whether or not there may be love blossoming in the air for the heart-broken detective. Lessons from LOST: Why TV Show Finales Matter

October 2, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt 2 Comments

[Editor’s Note: Due to the controversial nature of the following, the TV Addict (Daniel Malen) would like to clarify that the opinion expressed in the post below are solely that of West Coast Correspondent Tiffany Vogt (@tvwatchtower)! #TeamLindelof]

The Following post contains spoilers pertaining to the end of BREAKING BAD so if you haven’t watched Sunday’s spectacular series finale, stop reading in 3… 2… 1… This has been a momentous week in television as the AMC series BREAKING BAD ended its five-season run with a record 10.3 million viewers watching live. It was illegally downloaded another 500,000 times and who knows how high the ratings will rise once the DVR numbers are factored in. It was not only the number of viewers that was impressive, but the critical acclaim that accompanied it as fans and critics seemed aligned in heaving a collective sigh of relief that the show ended well. Everyone had been holding their breath, worried that the show would flop in its finale; that it would try to top itself and reveal that the entire five seasons had been Walt having a bad dream during a cancer-fueled fugue. Instead the show honored its anti-hero and gave him a good death — one that he rightly deserved. [Read more…]

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Preview: Kristin Kreuk Teases the Challenges Ahead for VinCat in Season 2

October 2, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Probably the most heartbreaking moment of the first season of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was when Catherine Chandler (Kristin Kreuk) had to decide whether to inject the man she loved with the serum used to change him back into a beast.  Then just minutes later he was ripped from her life as a helicopter airlifted him away in a net.  Unable to live with herself for having to condemn Vincent (Jay Ryan) to a life as a beast and letting someone snatch him away from her, Cat is determined to get him back and to save him from a life as a Muirfield lab-rat and military experiment. So when Season 2 opens, Cat is singled-mindedly searching for Vincent.  In a recent press interview from the set, star Kristin Kreuk dished on how fractured Cat is in her life now that she feels she cannot move forward without rescuing Vincent and what hope lies ahead for Cat and Vincent when she ultimately does find him.
